East Corning Station 16 provides fire prevention and suppression services, emergency rescue and basic life support (BLS) services, public assistance during natural emergencies, and other activities deemed from time to time to be in the best interest of residents and businesses of the community. Our district is very diverse, we are responsible for the eastern portion of the fire district. We are responsible for providing protection to Guthrie Corning Hospital, numerous housing developments, as well as many small business within the community. Our members, along with the rest of the district are made up of Volunteer residents of the community and are dedicated to providing the best service possible. We spend countless hours learning new techniques and attending training’s all across the state & country to achieve this goal. ‘We truly are neighbors helping neighbors.”
On two previous occasions, the residents of East Corning Area tried unsuccessfully to secure fire protection for their area. Then in 1960 it became a reality. The initial meeting took place on July 23rd, 1959, at the East Corning School. Read More About Our History.
