Mike Brenning

2013

Mike Brenning has been a member of the East Corning Fire Department, Inc. Since 2007 & has served as the Chief since 2014. During his time as Chief, Mike has always looked for ways to make things better and more efficient. In 2020, Mike was selected to be the first District Chief for the newly formed Corning Joint Fire District. Forming a Fire district, created a new set of challenges. Mike, with the help of the commissioners and district command staff created a new vision to reimagine how fire protection was delivered to the citizens of the Joint Fire District. In only one short year, the new organization purchased new breathing apparatus. Put specifications out to buy two new tanker-pumpers and started a committee to create a municipal campus to house the district headquarters.

Mike started out as a volunteer firefighter with the village of South Corning in 1978, and turned his passion for the fire service into a career with the City of Corning in 1989. Mike retired from the Corning City Fire Department in 2010. He has served as a councilman for the Town of Corning from 2010- present and was an integral part in forming the Corning Joint Fire District.

When he is not at the fire station, Mike enjoys many outdoor activities and especially coaching. Mike has coached many different sports at all levels of competition. Probably his favorite activity outside of the fire service is spending time with his family and grandchildren on the lake.
